There are several different types of arthritis including osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, gout, septic arthritis, Still’s disease, and ankylosing spondylitis. Depending on which type of arthritis you have will determine the best treatment course for you.
Arthritis is a painful and oftentimes debilitating condition that’s characterized by inflammation within one or more joints. According to the Centers For Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), 1 in 2 people will develop osteoarthritis of the knee by the age of 85.
Many people living with moderate-to-severe arthritis resort to prescription medications not realizing that acupuncture and NAET Allergy Elimination could help to manage the symptoms and slow the progression.
Over the years there have been a number of studies that have shown that acupuncture can offer relief to many different types of arthritis. Acupuncture, unlike some prescription medication, does not come with adverse side effects. In fact, since we look at the body as a whole many of your other symptoms may disappear! How great is that?!
Acupuncture and Arthritis: How It Works
Acupuncture is based on the belief that our bodies have an essential life/energy force (referred to as Qi). Qi flows through the body along 14 primary meridians. When Qi is flowing unrestricted it keeps the individual healthy and wards off disease. However, if the Qi becomes stagnant it leaves the individual susceptible to illness or pain.
In order to stimulate the flow of Qi and remove stagnation, a licensed acupuncturist will use a thin needle inserted directly under the skin. Acupuncture aids in not only regulating circulation but also regulates the nervous system which produces natural pain-relieving chemicals called endorphins.
Studies Reaffirm Acupuncture For Arthritis
A group of German researchers conducted a study on 304,674 patients suffering from osteoarthritis of the knee. Researchers split the patients into two groups, one of which received traditional routine care, while the other received 15 sessions of acupuncture. Researchers concluded that patients who had received acupuncture experienced better knee function, less pain, and an overall better quality of life than their counterparts.
Another study – this one originating out of China – found that both acupuncture and electroacupuncture were effective at reduce pain, inflammation and tenderness in parts of the body by arthritis. Granted, this was a small study with just 36 patients, but it’s just one more study attesting to the healing power of acupuncture.
NAET Allergy Elimination
Allergy elimination and arthritis seem to have nothing to do with each other. According to NAET, an allergy can be defined as “anything that causes an adverse reaction in an individual that does not have an adverse reaction in a healthy individual”. It is frequently used with patients that have severe autoimmune diseases because the body is literally fighting itself (“allergic to itself”).
NAET Allergy Elimination works to reboot the body so it no longer views a sensitivity as a sensitivity. The basic fundamentals of everyday life are addressed first. Those include: egg, vitamins (like Vitamin C and Vitamin B), sugar, grains, digestive enzymes, minerals, iron, salt, etc.). Frequently, patients that have arthritis have unknown sensitivities to Vitamin C, sugar and other items that can cause inflammation.
By addressing these sensitivities the inflammation and pain go down, and the need for prescription pain medication starts to decrease.
