Triggers and symptoms of Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) can be reduced or even eliminated using Nambudripad’s Allergy Elimination Techniques (NAET®).

What is IBS according to Western Medicine?
Irritable bowel syndrome, or IBS, causes uncomfortable or painful abdominal symptoms. Constipation, diarrhea, gas and bloating are all common symptoms of IBS. IBS doesn’t damage your digestive tract or raise your risk for colon cancer. You can often manage symptoms through medications, diet and lifestyle changes. Researchers don’t know exactly what causes IBS, but they classify it as a neuro-gastrointestinal (GI) disorder. These conditions, also called disorders of the gut-brain interaction, have to do with problems with how your gut and brain coordinate to help your digestive system work. (Source: Cleveland Clinic)

Treatments for IBS typically include lifestyle changes, dietary changes, and possibly medication. It is not uncommon for your doctor to prescribe an antidepressant.
NAET for IBS
IBS is a disease of the bowels. Most vitamins, minerals, and electrolytes are absorbed in the intestines. The large intestines have the extra function of reabsorbing water back into the body to prevent diarrhea (which can lead to dehydration). If too much water is reabsorbed it can lead to constipation.
What can NAET do for IBS?
It is very common for patients with IBS to also have sensitivities to vitamins, minerals, and foods. NAET can help by by treating for these sensitivities, and any emotions (fear, frustration, anger, stress etc.), with the result that the patient starts to see an improvement in bowel health.
NAET is based on multiple modalities including Traditional Chinese Medicine. Yes, it may take a while to see results with NAET. This depends on what your major trigger is, and when we are able to address it. However, we can use a combination of NAET, acupuncture, and Chinese herbology. This allows your underlying/acute conditions to be addressed at the same time as being treated with NAET.
IBS can be difficult to treat in general. Many patients that have been on medications for years may still have trouble regulating it.
Consider eliminating these foods / eating habits:
Too many cold, raw vegetables: To properly digest raw foods your body must first bring them down to body temperature. The extra effort can dampen the digestive fire and lead to malabsorption. Cook vegetables (steam) and eat them warm.
Cruciferous vegetables and legumes: These are healthy but can cause gas and bloating in sensitive individuals.
Dairy: Lactose intolerance can lead to digestive ailments. If you aren’t sure, try eliminating dairy products such as milk, yogurt and cheese.
Eating fast, while angry or hurried: When you eat or drink quickly, you might be inhaling too much air and eating too much. Eat slowly and mindfully.
Other triggers: Sensitivities might include chocolate, carbonated drinks, artificial sweeteners, caffeine, greasy food or processed food. Hormonal changes could also be a factor in IBS symptoms.
Which foods generally make IBS worse or better?
Worse
- Fatty foods, like French fries
- Milk products
- Chocolate
- Alcohol
- Caffeinated drinks like coffee and soda
- Carbonated drinks
Better
- High fiber foods
- Fruits
- Vegetables
- Bread, cereal and beans
- Eating small meals more frequently
- Staying away from eating large meals.
Add high fiber foods to the diet a little at a time to allow the body to get used to it. Too much fiber at once can cause gas, which can trigger the IBS.
With NAET you are able to stay on medication while you are undergoing treatments. Which will allow you temporary relief while working towards eliminating the problem. Get in touch with us to find out if NAET is right for you.
