Nambudripad’s Allergy Elimination Techniques (NAET®) is a system for alleviating allergies and sensitivities.

Nambudripad’s Allergy Elimination Technique (NAET) defines an allergen as anything that causes an adverse reaction in an individual which does not cause an adverse reaction in a healthy individual. When this happens, the body can view anything as a threat, including itself. NAET® is a non-invasive, drug-free, natural therapy to alleviate allergies of all types and intensities. The NAET method uses a blend of acupuncture and/or acupressure, allopathy, chiropractic techniques, applied kinesiology, homeopathy, and nutritional therapy. These modalities “reboot” the body so that it no longer reacts to a substance as a sensitivity.

Theory and practice of NAET

Dr. Devi Nambudripad, the developer of NAET, theorizes that virtually all disease, ill health, and even developmental disorders such as autism, are caused when the electromagnetic signature from exposure to one or more substances—food, chemicals, hormones, proteins, other substances—disrupts energy flow within the body. NAET® uses a holistic approach to treat the underlying causes of illness, not just the visible symptoms.

NAET FAQs

How is the NAET® system used to treat allergies?

One allergen is treated at a time. If you are not severely immune deficient or highly allergic, you may need just one treatment to desensitize one allergen. A person with mild to moderate allergies may take about 15-20 office visits to desensitize 15-20 food and environmental allergens.

Every patient begins with the “Basic 17” allergens. These include: Brain and body function, Egg, Calcium, Vit C, B complex, Sugar, Iron, Minerals, Salt, Grains, Yeast, Hormones/ Glandulars, Organs/Glands, Acid, Base, and Vit K. These are the basic compounds found in foods, the environment, and everyday life. The “Basic 17” are treated during the first 17 visits, laying the foundation for subsequent treatments identifying and addressing additional allergens.

What conditions can NAET® treatments help with?

NAET® uses a holistic approach that aims to treat the underlying causes of illness, not just the symptoms. In addition to alleviating adverse reactions to a variety of substances, NAET® can work well for those with chronic illnesses, such as Irritable Bowel Syndrome, which may or may not involve known allergies. Conditions that Nambudripad’s Allergy Elimination Techniques has been shown to help with include:

  • asthma
  • allergies
  • autoimmune disorders
  • digestive disorders
  • women’s health & fertility
  • thyroid disorders
  • stress/anxiety
  • chronic pain
  • skin disorders
  • and more

  • Foods such as eggs, peanuts, mushrooms, shellfish, oils, tree nuts, meats, and food chemicals
  • Medications including penicillin, aspirin, and immunizations

Once I complete my NAET treatments, will my allergies be completely gone?

Most of them report that contact with previously troublesome foods or environmental substances no longer cause adverse effects.” via NAET.com FAQ page

What lab work is required for my first NAET session®?

You are invited to bring in any lab work that you may have to your first NAET treatment. The data from lab work helps us to track your progress, and can provide tangible evidence to the medical community on the benefits of NAET and acupuncture. We ask new NAET patients to bring in recent allergy blood work to the first appointment.

If you have had IgE/IgG allergy testing done in the past, please bring a printout of the results with you on your first visit. If you have never had IgE/IgG testing, plan to get it done before your first visit.

  • These tests can be obtained through your allergist or primary care physician.
  • Ask for an IgE or IgG blood-work panel for common food allergens (egg white, egg yolk, chicken, peanut, tree nut, grains, and so forth).
  • If possible, avoid Antigen Leukocyte Antibody tests (ALCATs). Although helpful, they do not numerically quantify how reactive you are to a specific item like the IgE/IgG tests do.
  • If you cannot obtain the IgE or IgG bloodwork through your healthcare provider. Questhealth.com offers basic IgE allergy panel that includes: Almond, Cashew nut, Codfish, Cow’s milk, Egg white, Hazelnut, Peanut, Salmon, Scallop, Sesame seed, Shrimp, Soybean, Tuna, Walnut, Wheat. You do not need a doctor’s referral, but the cost is out of pocket. You may also choose to add on other IgE tests for inhalant allergens.

There will be a thorough intake followed by your first treatment.

What can I expect during a typical NAET® session?

Your individual NAET treatment path is based on your medical history, a review of the current reasons for your visit, and your most recent allergy blood testing. Initial appointments are 90 minutes long; follow-up appointments are 60 minutes.

During your visit, your sensitivities will be gauged using a form of applied kinesiology called Neuromuscular Sensitivity Testing (NST or NST-NAET). Once the particular sensitivity has been determined we activate specific acupressure points on your back and on your arms and legs. You’ll spend the last 15-20 minutes of each session relaxing on a heated massage table while acupuncture needles do their work. If you prefer, acupressure can be used in place of acupuncture. After your visit, you will need to avoid the sensitivity for 25 + hours while the body “resets itself.”

Please note that we require new NAET clients to schedule a complimentary phone consultation before their first appointment.
