What is the Lebowitz Protocol?
Named after its developer, Michael Lebowitz, D.C., the Lebowitz Protocol is a method for identifying and treating sources of reactivity in the body.
How does Lebowitz Protocol work?
Lebowitz Protocol uses a particular style of Applied Kinesiology (AK) to determine the body’s degree of reactivity to a range of substances, including:
- Fungi, parasitic organisms, bacteria & viruses (including Lyme), biofilms
- Mold
- Foods
- Heavy Metals
- Chemicals
- Hormones
- and more
Lebowitz Protocol treats the sensitivities using supplements and/or neurological desensitization techniques.
What can Lebowitz Protocol help with?
Lebowitz Protocol can be helpful with many health conditions, including:
- Dysbiosis, which refers to imbalances in the collection of microbes normally found in the body
- Hormonal imbalances
- Leaky gut
- Inflammation
- Pain
- Lyme Disease
- Mold toxicity
- Heavy metal toxicity
- Digestive disorders
- and more
Applied Kinesiology and Lebowitz Protocol
Applied Kinesiology, AK for short, is also known as “muscle testing.” The practitioner can gauge a client’s reactivity to a given substance using AK. There are many different styles of AK. They are all based on the idea that any sensitivity or imbalance in the body will manifest neurologically and physically in ways that can be detected by someone who has been trained in AK techniques.

With Lebowitz Protocol, the muscle testing is generally performed while the patient is lying face up on the table, or through a surrogate. The practitioner tests the muscle strength of the client’s arm by applying pressure and noting how well the muscles can resist the pressure.
Lebowitz Protocol at CCHW
Teri Calandra, L.Ac. began her studies with Dr. Michael Lebowitz, D.C. in June 2018. In addition to offering the Lebowitz Protocol as a stand-alone treatment modality, she often uses it to augment the work she does with her NAET patients.
NAET and Lebowitz Protocol
Nambudripad’s Allergy Elimination Techniques (NAET) has some similarities to Lebowitz Protocol, in that NAET involves the use of AK, along with other techniques, to test for sensitivities. However, NAET has its own unique protocols for identifying and treating sensitivities that all NAET patients follow. Lebowitz Protocol is likewise a separate, complete system for identifying and treating sensitivities. Lebowitz Protocol in this context is a separate treatment option for augmenting the NAET process.
Michael Lebowitz, D.C.
The creator of the Lebowitz Protocol, Dr. Michael Lebowitz, D.C. has practiced and taught the art of Applied Kinesiology for over 30 years. He studied with such pioneers in the field of Applied Kinesiology as George Goodheart, D.C., and Wally Schmitt, D.C. Dr. Lebowitz has dedicated his career to discovering more accurate ways of muscle testing in order to discern the more subtle sources of reactivity that may otherwise be missed.
Lebowitz is the owner of Supreme Nutrition Supplements, a high-quality herbal supplementation company that is GMP certified. Supplements from Supreme Nutrition do not contain any fillers.
He is the author of three books and multiple articles.
